Scared?  Nah!  It's Like Riding a Bike!

While the MLA Handbook for Writers was updated in 2016 to reflect current standards, many institutions allow student to use the 7th edition in addition to the new, 8th edition.  However, before beginning your citations, you will need to clarify with your instructor whether the 7th edition is acceptable or if the 8th will be required for formatting work.  In my class, currently, I am still allowing use of the 7th edition for students who have that textbook, yet I will be requiring the 8th edition by the end of 2017.  If you are in a class that allows 7th edition formatting still, or if you simply want to review some of the 7th edition format guidelines for personal use, see the information links below from The University of Southern Mississippi's Library website for formatting using the MLA 7th edition.
