Social media has caused the morals of American culture to slowly deteriorate in the young and old. [Argument
Development] Many of the posts, pins, and stories found on the various social media platforms, can be detrimental to the user’s moral values. [Argument Development]
Often posts or stories on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram can degrade another person, and it happens so often that the user becomes apathetic to
the harmful effects it has on the other person. Therefore, the user starts to
forget the “golden rule” found in Matthew 7:12(Matthew 7:12 English Standard
Version). [Argument
Development] Many pins on Pinterest, a popular scrapbooking social media platform, are immoral from vulgar language to vulgar images. [Source Support] The
Bible says that the eyes are the pathway to the soul(Matthew 6:22-24 New
International Version). [Argument
Development] The user becomes used to the vulgar language and the
vulgar images, and soon it becomes part of their everyday life. [Argument Development]
The harmful impacts of social media especially effect children. [Source Support] The
habits and attitudes of children have been seen to change after using social
media (Elmore, 2019). [Source
Support] They start to lack good attributes, such as honesty,
forgiveness, and self-control (Elmore, 2019). [Source Support] “Those who used social
media (Facebook and Instagram were the most frequently used) more often
reported being concerned with things like their appearance or having fun
rather than helping others or being honest(Johnson, 2016).” [Source Support] In the
movie Connect, with Kirk Cameron, he discusses five lies with Kathy
Koch, an author, that people often believe when addicted to social media (Connect,
2018). [Source Support] The following are the
five lies: I am the center of my own universe, I deserve to be happy all the
time, I must have choice, I am my own authority, and information is all that
matters, so I don’t need teachers or authority (Connect, 2018). [Argument Development]
These five lies center around that person and makes everything about “me.”

the center of the universe, we can have joy in all of our circumstances,
choice is a privilege, God is our ultimate authority, and seek God for wisdom

wisdom from God while using social media, just as people should do with
