What is STRUCTURE? Structure is how something is arranged, supported, and functions. In writing, the structure of each component is important to clearly lead the reader through your thoughts without getting lost. In grammar, sentence structure guides the reader along the path: smoothly, with ease, or choppy, with disjointed movements.
The structure of your essay needs to be in a specific order, moving from introduction to body, to conclusion. Within that basic structure, there are many small structures to follow as well
- an introduction paragraph (minimum of 3 sentences),
- at least three body paragraphs (each paragraph a minimum of 5 sentences), and then
- a conclusion paragraph (minimum of 3 sentences).
