Are you in a Freshman Composition Course (ENGL101 or ENC1101)? Even though these course often begin with some basic writing (such as a Narrative essay), the ultimate goal of these types of classes is to teach students how to analyze arguments in our world (advertisements, speeches, articles, etc) so that students can craft their own arguments that persuade the readers of a specific viewpoint.
Kevin deLaplante has created some video tutorials to help you with the understanding of the point of an argument essay. While his information is very valuable and informative, it is not a replacement for my DRAFTING etext. Please learn about ARGUMENT in his videos, but focus on the DRAFTING handout points for key structural items you will be scored on in my class.
Below, you will find links to Kevin's tutorials, and within these PAGES, you will find key points from my DRAFTING etext handout that clarifies what must be included in an argumentative essay submitted to our class.
